After lunch with my old friend at Gin-Thai restaurant, we went around looking for a cafe for some afternoon coffee. There was a place offering coffee and food but only for take away when there were lots of chairs and tables there..odd. When we got back onto the street near the restaurant where we had eaten, we found a sign that said ‘MS coffee shop’ and went in a bit hesitantly because of the nondescript frontage. But the (female Muslim) owner was very welcoming, just finishing taking out what appeared to be a roll cake from the oven. It turned out to be a very good chocolate roll. We ordered a decaf cappuccino; not long after came a mother with her son and daughter who turned out to be Indonesian too. We sat together with our new friends on a soft black sofa. They ordered Turkish coffee which was served in a traditional cup and saucer set. The friendly owner taught them how to drink the coffee. The sugar cubes were meant to be dunked in the coffee after which you inhaled the aroma before drinking. Interesting; maybe sometime I’ll try it.
